Gateway to Glacier

Welcome to the western Gateway to Glacier National Park, which includes the northwest Montana city of Columbia Falls and the surrounding communities of Polebridge, Hungry Horse, Martin City, Coram, West Glacier, Apgar and Essex. Just outside Glacier National Park, there are abundant family activities to entertain visitors of all ages.

The city of Columbia Falls anchors the area, offering the grocery and other supply stops for your stay. In Columbia Falls you will also find multiple playgrounds, bike trails through the woods and to the Flathead river. For more stimulating attractions a quick and easy drive out of town reveal a water park at Big Sky Waterslides, a natural vortex at the House of Mystery, a full day’s activities at the Amazing Fun Center like go carts, bumper boats, mini golf and a gigantic maze. When you are tired of exploring at ground level, take a walk in the trees at the Glacier Highline Adventure, or go on a horseback ride with Swan Mountain Outfitters – and don’t forget to check out the Crown of the Continent Discovery Center with their interactive map displays and petting zoo!

Of course, Glacier National Park is the biggest attraction of the area, with abundant wildlife, mountain and valley vistas, hundreds of miles to hike (or ski) and explore, and plenty of rivers and lakes to navigate. From natural to man made attractions, the Columbia Falls area makes the perfect home base for your Glacier National Park vacation.
