The annual Family Forestry Expo is an informative festival, celebrating our area’s timber industry heritage. There are live logging equipment demonstrations, logger sport competitions like horizontal log splitting and cross-cut saw, and live packer and pack string demonstrations. A guided tour through the Trumbull Creek Educational Forest delights visitors of all ages with learning stations of all kinds – fish hatchery, live owl exhibit, forest fire prevention, tree and noxious weed identification, bear biology, and even a station featuring fur trapping.

This day of forestry immersion includes a logger BBQ lunch, and is staffed by forestry professionals from various organizations both public and private. There are educational exhibits and hands on activities for the kids like paper making. Bring a backpack for the materials you will pick up along the way, and don’t forget your sunscreen!

The Trumbull Creek Educational Forest is a 40 acre forest about five miles northwest of downtown Columbia Falls, Montana.
