Economic Development Meeting
October 16, 2018 @ 7:15 am - 8:00 am
Our October Columbia Falls Area Chamber Economic Development meeting agenda:
City Planner Eric Mulcahy will discuss the Columbia Falls Growth Policy review and update. The City updates the Growth Policy every 5 years. The Columbia Falls City-County Planning Board will spend the next several months holding meetings to review the Growth Policy map and document and upon completion of the review and update, will forward to the City Council for adoption. The Growth Policy is the “30,000 foot view,” used by local governments as a general guide for decisions regarding the community’s physical development. The Growth Policy is not a regulatory document, like the Zoning or Subdivision Code, but rather it is an official statement of public policy to guide growth and manage change for the development of the community. Specific planning actions, such as subdivision or rezoning requests are reviewed for conformance with the Growth Policy.
Additionally, the City is proposing to create a Targeted Economic Development District (TEDD) at the Columbia Rising Industrial Park, the former Weyerhaeuser mill site. The TEDD can provide economic development incentives for developers. City Manager Susan Nicosia will provide information on the TEDD. City Council will hold public hearings on the TEDD on October 15th and November 5th.
Open to Chamber members and the public.
Breakfast can be purchased between 7:00-7:15. Meeting starts promptly at 7:15.
