The 3rd Annual Deadication Festival was a first for the city of Columbia Falls. After the festival’s first two years at Stillwater Landing, the festival organizer, Emily Clark of Make It Groovy Productions, decided to move the festival into the heart of town. In Columbia Falls, that meant a really big music festival at the under-utilized Don Lawrence band shell at Marantette Park.
Almost 400 people came out to enjoy five bands, featuring all touring musical acts: Brad Parsons, The Watters, Gipsy Moon, Cure for the Common and headliner band – Fruition from Portland OR. Festival goers brought the kids (they were free!), blankets and lawn chairs, and enjoyed a perfect day in the park. With food vendors, climbing wall, face painting, and fabulous jewelry and craft vendors, the festival was completely self contained.
After this flawless event, we expect that Marantette will be officially “discovered” now. You can check out the venue in action on September 17th for the Rotary Club of Columbia Falls’ 2nd annual Falls Fest. And if you are thinking of throwing a large event at this location and need some logistical support, don’t forget to contact the Columbia Falls Area Chamber of Commerce for our planning and execution services!
